Isabel Garcia - Royal College of Music - Double Bass
On Wednesday 23 October 2024, the Awards Knight Didy Grahame OBE and Knight Webmaster Valerie Wilkins had great pleasure in meeting Isabel at the Royal College of Music 'Award Holders' Reception'. The RCM recognised the vital role the Society and other supporters play in sustaining the RCM charitable mission.
Isabel kindly gives her written thanks below, followed by her biography:
Dear Ms Wilkins,
My name is Isabel Garcia and I am a double bass player from Spain. I graduated my from the Royal College of Music in July with a First Class Bachelor's degree (with Honours) in Music Performance and am due to enter the first year of my Master's degree with Rodrigo Moro as my Principal Study tutor. I am very excited to embark on this new journey as a postgraduate student!
I am looking forward to the Autumn term as I have two very exciting performances coming up. The first one will take place in Athens with an RCM String ensemble during October. It is certainly a very exciting performance and we will be playing Chopin and De Falla. I have also been placed in this year’s Symphony Orchestra and Chorus concert, which will be conducted by Martyn Brabbins. There will be two concerts on Thursday 31 October and Friday 1 November. The repertoire will be Bruch Violin Concerto and A child of our time composed by Tippett. Usually as the term goes on, more performances come up!
Thank you so much for your kind donation. With your support I am able to carry on with my studies and gain experience as an orchestral player at the Royal College of Music. In my future dream career I would love to win a position in a renowned orchestra. Studying with Rodrigo Moro, LSO principal, will allow me to learn even more about how to navigate through the professional music world. This wouldn’t be possible without your generosity and thank you so much again. Looking forward to meeting you on October.
With best wishes,
Isabel
